Is Revenge Good for the Soul?

This isn’t normally a sponsored post I would accept but after reading the description I was intrigued. It seems that a very swish and swanky S-Type Jaguar has ended up on an online car website www.buyyourcar.co.uk under somewhat “unusual” circumstances…

The husband bought this car and for some reason registered it in his wife’s name. It wouldn’t necessarily have been a bad thing but he then cheated on her, she found out and then, well, um… she threw a pot of red paint over the car. Now she is selling it for 50% of what it’s worth simply as revenge, beware of a woman scorned.

What I want to know is does she feel any better after doing this? They say revenge is sweet but I’m not so sure.

In our old house we used to live next to woman who we couldn’t stand. She became very frosty towards us when we had to complain (nicely) about her new gutter dripping and causing rising damp for us. She had a dog that barked constantly from about 7am until 9am when he was taken out. One of her sons had a drum kit just through the wall from my bedroom. I won’t bore you with the other stuff but she basically acted as if we were the neighbours from Hell and refused to even acknowledge us.

After we moved house my Mum got it into her head that she would take revenge by killing her hedge. Anyway, she didn’t go ahead with it. Sometimes you should just leave the past where it is and move on.

* Buy Your Car is a UK website where you can buy used cars, new cars and find details of loans etc.

Don’t Let Money Stress You Out at Christmas

shopping at christmasThis is a Sponsored Post

People are coming under increasing pressure to have lots more “stuff” than ever before. There’s so much to tempt us including gadgets, new cars and fancy exotic holidays. When I was at school (I’m 25 so it wasn’t that long ago) nobody had mobile phones. Now I see young children walking down the street chatting to their friends on them.

As I walk round the shops and see the amount of Christmas gifts being sold I can’t help but worry for people who think they need to spend huge amount of money each year. It’s all so unnecessary, kids even admit that they don’t like a lot of what they receive. I can remember receiving more than I knew what to do with!

My family got so fed up of the commercialisation of Christmas that a few years ago we changed the way we bought gifts for each other. We spend £3 on a “secret Santa” gift which is uni-sex. Then we spend £6 on a specific person (chosen at random). It means that not only do we save a lot of money but we also have to put more time, effort and thought into the gifts we buy.

If you are going to spend a lot of money make sure that you can afford it. The lack of money can seriously affect our health. What would you prefer, lots of shiny new toys or the bailiffs knocking at your door?

GHOST OF CHRISTMAS PAST HAUNTS INDEBTED BRITS

– New price saving site launches to save Brits up to 20% this Christmas –

As the nation approaches the final countdown to Christmas, new research rings alarm bells over the financial impact of Christmas in credit crunch Britain. The research from the new money saving website Savebuckets.com reveals that as Brits prepare for Christmas, many are still paying off last year’s festive spending.

With 41 per cent of Britons paying for Christmas on credit last year, almost one in five are still paying for last year’s festivities (17%), fewer than one in three having cleared their Christmas debts when their January credit card bill arrived (29%).

Following a year of consumer confidence in 2006, Christmas spending soared 52 per cent in two years (from an average £548 per adult in 2004* to £837 per adult in 2006), with over one in five Brits spending over £1,000 on Christmas last year (22%). This year, with spending power at its lowest level for 10 years**, consumers are feeling the financial hangover from a more confident Christmas enjoyed on the credit card and loans.

Alarmingly, it is cash strapped youngsters and low income earners who, having spent the most on last Christmas, are most likely to be feeling the repercussions of last year’s spending spree (see figures below).

The research into the financial impacts of last Christmas amongst a GB representative sample of 2,000 British adults was carried out by the new money savings website Savebuckets.com which launches this week to enable Brits to get more for their money this Christmas.

With these alarming figures in mind, Savebuckets.com will give shoppers the opportunity to save up to 20% on their Christmas shopping. Putting consumers back in control of their spending, the site searches over 700 retailers for the best price on around one million products. The site includes a unique price checker which allows consumers to set the price they want to pay for items, notifying them when the price of a product falls to within their budget.

A Busy Workout in the Garden

The review fee for this post will go to American Red Cross

TreeOver the last couple of weeks it has been a battle of wills between me and the trees in our garden. It is of course that time of year again when a never ending supply of leaves fall to the ground. Everyday I’ve been out raking up the leaves and each morning some little Imp has put them all back again. Who needs to go to the gym when you’ve got a carpet of leaves to rake up every day?!

In addition to this I’ve also been painting the windows, removing the mastic and digging up the compost. All these tasks require tools which we’ve been keeping in the garage. Unfortunately the previous owners spent a small fortune building this crappy of piece junk. It’s ugly, narrow (not much wider than a car), has no windows and no lighting. I’m not sure what we plan on using the garage for in future, at the moment we have building materials for the house and gardening tools amongst other things. Not exactly sure as I can barely see anything, the only reason the photo has turned out is because my camera has a good flash.

Garage

CarGuyGarage.com has lots of garage storage to buy so that you can store all your bits and pieces better organised than my garage.

Health Benefits of Tequila

I wondered to myself if there might be any health benefits to drinking tequila in the way that a glass of red wine a day is good for you. To my surprise it seems that there are benefits.

  1. Relaxant – A small glass before heading to bed can help relax you after a busy stressful day, helping you to sleep better.
  2. Lowers Cholesterol – It has been proven the tequila can dissolve fats; reducing cholesterol.
  3. Optimizes cardiac functions
  4. Aids Digestion – Drink a glass before, during or after your meal in order to aid digestion.

General benefits of drinking moderate amounts of alcohol

Doctors around the world recommend alcohol in varying amounts, from as little as one glass per day in America to three in the Netherlands. If you drink somewhere in between those amounts then you’ll enjoy the following benefits:-

  • 54% less chance of developing dementia
  • 30-40% less chance of developing diabetes
  • 25% less chance of dying in any given year
  • 0.5% less chance of having a stroke

Don’t let this be an excuse to play those drinking games every night. Like with most things in life, whether it be chocolate, wine or tequila it must be in moderation for it to be beneficial. Drinking too much can lead to all sorts of health problems such as sclerosis of the liver.  Find out ways to help an alcoholic.  BTW, everyone should learn how to cleanse your liver.

Mexican food is also very yummy so it’s worthwhile checking out some healthy Mexican food.  Yes that’s right, there is Mexican food that’s healthy too.  What a surprise that would be for your friends.  You can invite them over for a healthy meal and then serve them up Mexican food with tequila for drinks.  What fun!

Improve Your Memory: Linkword Languages Review

The ability to learn is very important and can have an affect on our confidence. My boyfriend used to work in recruitment and training and found that many people who have difficulties in learning also suffer from depression. The problem is that the way lessons are taught aren’t always the most effective for everyone.

I can remember sitting in my French class like it was yesterday. The teacher would hold up picture cards and ask what the objects are in French. Everyone else seemed to get it straight away but whenever I was asked my mind would go blank. I came to the conclusion that I just didn’t have what it takes to learn another language.

Joke:

Q: What do you call someone who can speak two languages?
A: Bilingual

Q: What do you call someone who can speak three languages?
A: Trilingual

Q: What do you call someone who can speak one language?
A: British (or American)

Last year we went on holiday to Lake Iseo in Italy which is off the usual tourist path. A few months prior to going my boyfriend suggested us learning a bit of Italian. I wasn’t too enthusiastic but decided to have a look on the net for a better learning system. This is when I came across Link Word Languages(Unforgettable Languagesin the US).

It uses an imagery technique which is also used in The Amazing Memory Kit. The course was developed by Michael Gruneberg, former President of the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition. Independent studies have shown results are up to 3 times faster which doesn’t surprise me. Actually for me I would say it’s more like a hundred times faster.

Here’s a written example, you must picture the image as vividly as you can for 10 seconds.

The Italian for BIRD is UCCELLO
Imagine the conductor in an animal orchestra saying to a BIRD.
“YOU CELLO, me conductor.”

Self Esteem

I really wish I had access to this course when I was at school. Having words go in one ear and out the other doesn’t help with ones self-esteem. Although I’m far from being fluent in Italian I do believe that by working on it for a short time everyday I’ll be able to master basic conversational Italian. I neglected it for more than a year but at the I weekend bought the complete downloadable course. I’m amazed at how much vocabulary I have retained, which proves to me that it’s good for more than just short-term memory.

If you want to learn how to improve your memory when it comes to learning a language then using the linkwords memory technique is well worth giving a go.  So even if you want to learn Chinese can do so now.

Have I Fallen in Love with PayPerPost Yet?

sponsored content

As I mentioned last week, I have finally been accepted by PayPerPost. After logging in to see what assignments are available I noticed that PayPerPost are offering $10 for writing 100 words about why I love them. I’m not so sure I would go as far as saying I’m head over heals in love with PPP but I would like to share a few things I have learned…

Need 10 Sponsored Posts

In order to submit multiple blogs you need to first of all write 10 sponsored posts with them. This is fine if you have a more general blog and Google PR but I’ve been finding it very difficult to get jobs with them as I don’t currently have PR plus I don’t think anyone here really wants to know about ring tones.

Increase Categories

I’ve been told to increase the number of categories my blog is listed in under. At the moment it’s under health so I need to add to other categories such as “life” and “shopping”. When logging in to follow this advice it says I have to wait 3 days before I can make any changes. So until then I’ll just have to be patient.

General Blogs with PR

If you are thinking of creating an account with them I suggest you submit a blog that has PR and covers various topics. That way you’ll have a better chance of completing the necessary 10 tasks so you can add more blogs.

I’m sure in time I will love PPP, I’m just suffering a few teething problems at the moment.

How to Buy Your Health Products Cheaper with CouponChief

amazon offersLike most people, I love a bargain. The problem is finding these bargains. When I got the chance to review CouponChief I jumped at the chance after having a look through the site. It’s really well laid-out with various categories including Health & Beauty. You can also browse by merchant, where you can expect to see sites like Bodyshop, BodyBuilding and Amazon.

The sort of offers you’ll see are % discounts, free shipping and $$ vouchers. I noticed that with Amazon you can save $10 if you spend $29 with Pearlessence. I think that’s a pretty good deal. When you consider the amount of holidays and birthdays you end up having to buy gifts for it’s great to have a place that you can just pop into and see what coupon codes are available.

My Review of MyProtein.co.uk (and Discount Code)

  • For 5% off your first order use discount code MP8745

I’m really annoyed with myself for not keeping up with exercising at the gym. I was going faithfully every other day last year until I moved to a different area. I’ve decided that I want to start back up again which means I need to get all the necessary protein powders to make sure I have enough energy to get me through a workout.

The problem with most shops selling protein powders is that 1) you are paying for brand names, 2) they come with horrible artificial flavours which make me want to gag and 3) you can’t buy smaller quantities to see if you like it.

This is where www.myprotein.co.uk comes in. What I like about them is:-

  1. You can buy the powders in plastic bags or in containers. The more you buy the cheaper it becomes.
  2. The powders are unflavoured but can you order different flavours if you want. Personally I just add in Nesquick to my protein shakes.
  3. If you have special dietary requirements such as being vegan or kosher then just look out for the symbols. Besides the usual whey and egg they also have hemp, pea and brown rice.
  4. You can customize your own formulas, they’ll do all the mixing for you free of charge. Taking protein from different sources is a good idea because each type of protein is used by your body slightly differently. For instance whey protein is used by the body very quickly but then your body runs out after 2 hours. Egg protein on the other hand is absorbed more slowly. By taking a blend of the two, your body is effectively getting a timed-release of protein.
  5. They have a rewards scheme. If you use discount code MP8745 then you’ll get 5% off your first order and I’ll get that amount to spend on my next order.
  6. See what other people think of the products. You can vote on the taste and mixability of each powder plus you can leave a comment. There’s also a forum for asking questions.
  7. They have a really good selection of other supplements such as carbohydrates, vitamins and digestive enzymes. Plus there’s also products such as weight lifting gloves and shake mixers.

The only thing I would like to see different about the site is that when viewing each category you don’t know if the item is in stock until you click on the product for more details. I found that a couple of items I wanted to buy were actually out of stock which was a bit annoying.

Apart from that, if you live in the UK and are looking for a good source of protein powder, vitamins etc I really recommend www.myprotein.co.uk just remember to use discount code MP8745 🙂
